Collaboration with the famous Czech band Olympic and their managers BEST I.A., a.s. was a truly unique opportunity to connect art, fashion, and Czechoslovak music history. When singer Jana Bastien reached out to me with the idea of creating a one-of-a-kind birthday gift for Petr Janda, I knew it had to be something special – something that would capture the spirit of the band, their musical journey, and their impact on generations of fans. That’s how the hand-painted denim jacket came to life -a tribute to Olympic and a celebration of their incredible musical story.

I built the design around key symbols of the band – from the titles of their greatest hits to their iconic turtle – giving every element its own personality. The result was a hand-painted, reworked denim jacket that not only celebrated Olympic’s journey since 1963 but also inspired a limited edition of 50 printed denim jackets signed by all band members.

The response to the hand-painted jacket was overwhelming. Petr Janda and the band were thrilled, and the gift instantly became one of Olympic’s unforgettable moments. Building on that success, I teamed up with BEST I.A., a.s. to create an exclusive limited edition of 50 printed denim jackets..
Each jacket is:
- Unique, with carefully designed details and a vintage look
- Signed by all band members
- Numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity
A Design That Tells a Story
Every detail on the jacket reflects the band’s rich history and lasting influence on the Czechoslovak music scene:
- Petr Janda on the equalizer: The back of the jacket shows Petr Janda above an equalizer – a symbol of both the city and the soundwaves Olympic has been sending out since 1963.
- The turtle pick: A nod to their legendary track Turtle.
- Czech flag & hit titles: National pride meets iconic song names, painted as subtle details across the jacket like for example Jasná zpráva, Okno mé lásky or Dynamit.
- Hand-painted lyrics: The line “Já nejsem zlej” is featured on the shoulder
- Vintage vibe with a Czechoslovak touch I wanted the jacket to feel modern yet vintage – with colors and textures that honor Olympic’s history while keeping the spirit alive for today’s fans.

Personal Note
Designing this jacket and seeing it grow from a hand-painted original into a limited-edition collection has been an incredible experience. For me, it’s more than just a project – it’s a way of celebrating a band that lies at the very heart of Czechoslovak music.
